British comedian Russell Brand has entered a plea of not guilty to fresh charges of rape and sexual assault at the Southwark Crown Court. These new allegations, which go back to 2009 according to the Crown Prosecution Service, add to the existing charges he is facing involving four women. Previously in April, Brand, aged 50, was charged with multiple counts of rape, sexual assault, and indecent assault related to incidents between 1999 and 2005 in locations including Bournemouth and London. The comedian denied these charges earlier this year in a London court.

A trial is set for June and anticipated to span four to five weeks. A hearing is scheduled for the following month to determine if these new accusations will be combined with the current case. Brand’s lawyer has requested additional time to address the recent offenses. On his recent court appearance, Brand sported a white cowboy hat and sunglasses, expressing feelings of being “blessed.” Notably, Brand, who publicly announced his Christian faith in 2024, was a prominent figure on British television in the 2000s, known for his eccentric style and work as a BBC radio presenter.

The actor, recognized for his edgy standup routines, has battled drug and alcohol issues, leading to a retreat from mainstream media in recent years. However, he has garnered a substantial online following through content blending wellness tips, conspiracy theories, and discussions on his religious beliefs. Brand’s legal proceedings have attracted significant media attention amid the ongoing allegations.
