Texas country music artist Charley Crockett has called off the Canadian portion of his tour, including a Saskatoon stop, after being denied entry into the country over a prior drug conviction. The 41-year-old singer-songwriter expressed his disappointment on Instagram, acknowledging his past actions continue to affect him.
Crockett was set to perform in various Canadian cities before returning to the U.S., including Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Windsor, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, and Niagara Falls, with a subsequent show planned in Calgary in July. However, he and his band were barred from entering Canada through Vancouver and Kelowna due to a 2016 felony conviction for marijuana possession and trafficking.
Having previously toured Canada in 2024 and recently played in Toronto and Saskatchewan in 2023, Crockett expressed regret for letting down his Canadian fans, whom he described as some of the best in the world. Jake Vaadeland and The Sturgeon River Boys, the slated opening act, also expressed disappointment at missing the opportunity to perform.
Known for his country-folk style and numerous album releases since 2015, including the upcoming “Age Of The Ram” from the Sagebrush Trilogy, Crockett’s 2026 North American tour, which began in Seattle, will continue in Pennsylvania on March 7.
The cancellation of the concert series has left a local impact, affecting not only the venue but also artists, staff, and fans. Kirby Wirchenko, TCU Place’s director of theatre and programming, highlighted the broader repercussions on the arts, culture, and economy of the community, emphasizing the disappointment felt by all parties involved. Refunds are being processed for ticket holders affected by the cancellation.
