Leylah Fernandez from Canada has advanced to the semifinals of the Japan Open tennis tournament. She secured a victory over Rebecca Sramkova from Slovakia with a score of 7-6 (2), 6-3 during the quarterfinals held on Thursday. In the match, Fernandez managed one ace and three double faults, seizing four out of nine break opportunities.

Sramkova, on the other hand, recorded one ace and committed seven double faults, converting two out of three break-point chances. Fernandez is now set to compete against the victor of the match between Viktorija Golubic from Switzerland and Sorana Cirstea from Romania in the upcoming round.
