Tegan Quin, part of the musical duo Tegan and Sara, has contributed to the Marvel Comics pride special one-shot, titled Wiccan & Hulking: Raid of Ultron #1, set to release on May 27. This comic showcases the well-known gay couple Wiccan and Hulkling, emphasizing the significance of unity and relationships during challenging times.
Quin’s narrative in collaboration with illustrator Luciano Vecchio centers on twins Wiccan and Speed as they unite to combat Ultron while navigating their distinct paths as siblings. In a statement on Marvel’s website, Quin expressed her excitement about working on characters like Wiccan and Speed, mentioning the gratification of making her debut in the Marvel realm. She humorously likened Ultron to certain individuals she has encountered in the music industry, finding satisfaction in depicting their defeat.
The special edition of Wiccan & Hulking will also showcase works by writers Wyatt Kennedy, Josh Trujillo, and Zoe Tunnell, along with artists Rachael Stott, Bradley Clayton, and Stephen Byrne. Quin, who resides in Vancouver, is promoting Loghan Paylor’s novel The Cure for Drowning on Canada Reads 2026.
Canada Reads is an event where five Canadian personalities select a book they believe the nation should read, engaging in debates and eliminations over four days to determine the winning book. The upcoming edition is scheduled for April 13 to 16.
Throughout her career, Quin and her sister have launched ten studio albums featuring popular tracks such as Closer, Where Does The Good Go, and Walking with A Ghost. Their musical endeavors have garnered over a million album sales and earned them prestigious accolades like Juno and GLAAD awards, a Governor General’s Performing Arts Award, as well as nominations for the Polaris Music Prize and the Grammy Awards.
In 2019, the twins expanded their writing horizons from songwriting to literature with their joint memoir, High School, and the middle-grade graphic novel duology, Tegan & Sara: Junior High, beautifully illustrated by Tillie Walden. Furthermore, they established the Tegan and Sara Foundation, dedicated to supporting and empowering 2SLGBTQ+ communities, leading to their recognition with the Humanitarian Award at the 2024 Junos.
