Windsor police are currently looking into a case where a pedestrian was struck by two vehicles on Sunday evening in the western part of the city. The incident occurred around 8 p.m. on Sandwich Street, according to authorities. Reports from the police suggest that the pedestrian was hit by a vehicle while crossing the street away from a designated crosswalk. Subsequent investigations indicated that the impact from the first collision propelled the pedestrian into the opposite lane, where he was hit by a second vehicle, as mentioned in a police statement released on Monday.
The victim, identified as a 62-year-old male, sustained critical injuries and was rushed to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Both drivers involved in the incident remained at the scene and cooperated with the authorities. Following the accident, Sandwich Street was temporarily closed between Mill Street and Detroit Street, reopening after several hours of investigation and cleanup operations.
