In the past, fans had a strong interest in Matthew Perry’s character Chandler Bing during the successful run of the show “Friends.” However, following his passing in 2023, many found it challenging to come to terms with the news of his ketamine addiction, which contrasted with the beloved TV persona they knew so well.
Netflix has announced a new three-part docuseries titled “The One About Matthew Perry,” aiming to provide a more comprehensive look at the actor from Canada. The series will document Perry’s journey from an up-and-coming comedic talent to his iconic role on the popular NBC sitcom. The streaming service revealed that the show will feature exclusive testimonies from close associates, including lifelong friends and his sister Mia Perry Bowick, a grief specialist who has openly shared her grieving process after Perry’s demise.
According to Netflix, the docuseries will delve into Perry’s life beyond his public image, shedding light on his personal struggles and the impact he had through his honesty and advocacy efforts. Perry tragically passed away at the age of 54 from a ketamine overdose in his backyard hot tub. Legal actions were taken against several individuals involved in supplying him with the drug, with Dr. Salvador Plasencia, who sold Perry ketamine, currently appealing his 30-month prison sentence.
The upcoming docuseries is set to premiere on October 27, offering viewers a deeper understanding of Matthew Perry’s life and legacy.
