Singer D4vd is currently under investigation by a Los Angeles County grand jury regarding the death of a 14-year-old girl whose body was discovered in a Tesla linked to him last year. The vehicle, which was found abandoned in the Hollywood Hills, was registered under D4vd’s legal name, David Burke. Court documents reveal that prosecutors have identified the 20-year-old alt-pop artist as the focal point of the inquiry, with grand jury subpoenas issued to three of his family members for testimony.

The investigation, shrouded in secrecy in California, was unveiled through an appeal in Texas by the singer’s mother, father, and brother. The documents specify that the individual under scrutiny may have committed a violation of California law, notably a charge of Murder.

The deceased, Celeste Rivas Hernandez, was reported missing by her family from Lake Elsinore when she was 13 years old. Her remains were discovered in the Tesla, a Model Y from 2023, in a state of advanced decomposition, with investigators uncovering severed body parts. Although D4vd, also known as David, has not been formally named as a suspect, his association with the case led to the suspension of his shows and tours.

Despite the grim circumstances surrounding the incident, representatives for D4vd have refrained from commenting on the matter. The District Attorney’s Office has declined to provide any statements. Notably, a judge in Texas has mandated the singer’s family members to comply with the subpoenas and testify in California.

D4vd, recognized for his music blending indie rock, R&B, and lo-fi pop, rose to fame among Gen Z fans and achieved chart success with his song “Romantic Homicide.” Following the discovery of the body, his concert schedule was interrupted, with subsequent cancellations of performances in the U.S. and Europe. The cause of Rivas Hernandez’s death remains undisclosed, as authorities continue their investigation into this tragic case.
