Almost four decades ago, during a 1978 interview on CBC with Paul Soles, esteemed Canadian actress, comedian, and writer Catherine O’Hara displayed her early comedic talent in a memorable skit: a satirical advertisement for a product called “Milk of Amnesia.”
“I’m exhausted after putting the kids to bed,” she quipped. “Ever feel like you just want to unwind and forget about the day’s challenges? Well, that’s me — thanks to Philips Milk of Amnesia. I pour myself a glass, take a sip, and watch all my worries drift away.”
In celebration of O’Hara’s nomination for Best Actress in a Continuing Leading Comedic Role at the Canadian Screen Awards for her role as Moira Rose in “Schitt’s Creek,” CBC Arts unearthed this vintage clip. Take a trip down memory lane, sit back, and relive the moments when O’Hara first tickled our funny bones.
