Jessica De Filippo netted a goal in the 10th minute, propelling the Vancouver Rise to a vital 1-0 away triumph against the Montreal Roses in Northern Super League action on Saturday.

Vancouver secured another impressive road victory, this time besting the Ottawa Rapid 2-0 earlier in the week.

The Rise (11-7-6) head into the final week of the inaugural season of the Canadian professional women’s soccer league holding a three-point lead over Ottawa and Montreal (both 10-8-6) for the second spot in the six-team league.

Jessica De Filippo’s sole goal seals Vancouver’s 1-0 win over the Montreal Roses in NSL action on Saturday.

Toronto has already secured the top spot in the standings, while Vancouver, Montreal, and Ottawa have clinched the remaining playoff berths. The teams will face off in two-leg semifinals based on their positions in the league after next week’s matches.

The championship match is scheduled for November 15 at Toronto’s BMO Field, where the victor will claim the Diana B. Matheson Cup.

Rise’s goalkeeper, Morgan McAslan, made three crucial saves to secure her second consecutive clean sheet.

Later that Saturday, Meggie Dougherty Howard bagged two goals as the Calgary Wild overcame the Halifax Tides 3-1 in a clash between teams already eliminated from playoff contention.

Grace Stordy also found the net for the fifth-ranked Wild, enhancing their record to 8-14-2.

Syd Kennedy scored the lone goal for the bottom-placed Halifax team (3-14-7).
