The Los Angeles Dodgers secured a 3-1 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers in Game 3 of the National League Championship Series (NLCS) with a crucial single by Tommy Edman off pitcher Jacob Misiorowski in the sixth inning. This win puts the Dodgers at a 3-0 series lead, bringing them one step closer to becoming the first defending champion to reach the World Series since 2009.
Shohei Ohtani kickstarted the game with a triple and scored on Mookie Betts’ double, giving the Dodgers an early lead. However, the Brewers managed to tie the game with an RBI single by Jake Bauers in the second inning, the only run allowed by Dodgers pitcher Tyler Glasnow.
Misiorowski, who replaced Ashby in the first inning, struck out Edman and Teoscar Hernandez, setting a Brewers postseason rookie record with nine strikeouts. Edman later redeemed himself with a crucial hit, driving in two runs to secure the lead for the Dodgers.
Glasnow delivered a solid performance, allowing only three hits and three walks while striking out eight in 5 2/3 innings before receiving a standing ovation from the crowd. The Dodgers’ bullpen maintained their dominance, allowing just one hit over 3 1/3 innings to secure the victory.
Milwaukee, who had previously swept the Dodgers during the regular season, struggled to generate offense, recording only three runs and nine hits in the series. The Brewers have now lost their last 10 postseason road games dating back to 2018.
Looking ahead, Ohtani is set to make his second postseason start for the Dodgers after an impressive performance in the NL Division Series. On the other hand, Milwaukee has yet to announce their starting pitcher for the next game.
