A string of five suspicious fires in eastern Prince County, potentially linked, remains the focus of an ongoing investigation by the P.E.I. RCMP’s Major Crimes Unit. These incidents occurred within a two-week span spanning the end of June to early July, affecting properties in the New Annan, Clermont, and Kensington regions. All the fires transpired in broad daylight and targeted abandoned residential structures.

Cpl. Gavin Moore, the media relations officer at P.E.I. RCMP, acknowledged the community’s apprehension regarding the fires in the small, close-knit areas of Kensington and its environs. Emphasizing the seriousness of the situation, Moore urged individuals with pertinent information to step forward and aid in the investigation.

While the RCMP has not disclosed any potential suspects or arrests related to the fires, Moore affirmed the active nature of the inquiry. Stressing the significance of public cooperation, Moore highlighted the necessity of continued tips from residents to supplement the information already received.

Providing a timeline of the incidents, the RCMP detailed the occurrences on specific dates and locations. Moore encouraged anyone present in the vicinity during the fires to report any unusual observations, particularly considering the incidents’ visibility in well-trafficked areas during daylight hours.

Residents were urged to share any relevant information with the Prince District RCMP or anonymously through Crime Stoppers, underscoring the value of even minor details in advancing the investigation.
