England secured their place in the 2026 World Cup, making them the first European team to qualify for the tournament. The team’s impressive 5-0 victory against Latvia, led by captain Harry Kane’s two goals, cemented their position at the top of the group with two games remaining. Under the guidance of coach Thomas Tuchel, England has maintained a flawless defensive record, not conceding a single goal in the six qualifying matches played so far.

Italy, aiming to recover from missing the last two World Cups, ensured at least a playoff spot by defeating Israel 3-0 in a tense match marked by high security due to recent events. The Azzurri sit in second place in their group, trailing Norway by three points, setting up a crucial final-round clash between the two teams.

Spain continued their dominant form in qualifying, defeating Bulgaria 4-0 to maintain a perfect record in the campaign. Turkey also secured a victory, positioning themselves well for a playoff spot with a 4-1 win over Georgia.

Coach Tuchel’s impact on the England team has been evident, as he navigates through key decisions and strategic moves to steer the team towards success. Despite facing criticism for his selections, Tuchel’s tactics have yielded positive results, showcasing England’s potential against various opponents.

In South Africa, the national team secured their spot in the World Cup after a convincing 3-0 win over Rwanda, overcoming a points deduction for an earlier violation. South Africa’s qualification meant Nigeria will have to go through the playoff route, despite a notable 4-0 victory over Benin in the final group match.

Ivory Coast also clinched automatic qualification with a 3-0 win over Kenya, while Senegal booked their ticket to the World Cup with a commanding 4-0 victory over Mauritania.

In Spain’s qualifying match, Mikel Merino netted a brace to contribute to the team’s 4-0 triumph. Turkey’s Merih Demiral scored twice in their match against Georgia, although they still trail Spain in goal difference.

Italy’s Mateo Retegui scored two goals in their game, which took place amidst tight security measures in Udine. Despite concerns, the match proceeded smoothly, with minimal disruptions both on and off the field.
