Montreal native Felix Auger-Aliassime advanced to the quarterfinals of the European Open tennis tournament in Brussels after defeating Damir Dzumhur of Bosnia and Herzegovina in a closely contested match. Auger-Aliassime, the second seed in the tournament, dominated with 22 aces and had 14 opportunities to break Dzumhur’s serve. Despite Dzumhur successfully defending 13 break points and capitalizing on his chances, Auger-Aliassime found himself in a challenging third set. Dzumhur saved three match points to level the set at 5-5 before Auger-Aliassime rallied to win the deciding tiebreak. The 25-year-old, currently ranked 13th globally, is set to face American qualifier Eliot Spizzirri in the ATP 250 hardcourt event quarterfinals. This match marked the second encounter between Auger-Aliassime and Dzumhur at the ATP Tour level, with their last meeting dating back to 2020 in Montpellier, France.
