Helsinki, the European capital, is making a bold move to encourage Pamela Anderson to reconnect with her Finnish heritage by offering assistance in changing her name. Anderson, known for her roles in “Baywatch” and “The Last Showgirl”, recently expressed her desire to reclaim her Finnish grandfather’s surname, Hyytiäinen, which was changed to Anderson upon his arrival in Canada in 1908.

In response to Anderson’s wish, Helsinki Partners, a marketing company owned by the City of Helsinki, has launched a campaign to support her in becoming Pamela Hyytiäinen. The campaign includes online ads and billboards near Anderson’s residence on Vancouver Island. The promotional video features Finnish actor Janne Hyytiäinen, humorously presenting three options for Anderson to officially adopt the Hyytiäinen name: through marriage, adoption, or a legal name change.

The campaign, dubbed “Operation Make Pamela a Hyytiäinen,” aims to entice Anderson to visit Helsinki and explore her Finnish roots. Billboard ads in Ladysmith, B.C., where Anderson grew up, specifically target her, extending an invitation to discover her heritage. Soila Lehkonen, from Helsinki Partners, describes the initiative as a warm invitation for Anderson to experience Helsinki and potentially embrace her Finnish identity.

Despite Anderson’s initial reluctance to change her name, Helsinki remains hopeful that she will visit Finland to explore the city and its culture. The city is prepared to assist her if she decides to pursue the name change in the future. Anderson’s response to the campaign is awaited, as she has not yet commented on the invitation.
