Robert Carradine, a well-known Hollywood actor from the famous Carradine acting family, has passed away at the age of 71. The news of his death by suicide was confirmed by his family in a statement to various media outlets on Tuesday. Robert had been living with bipolar disorder for 20 years.

In the statement, Robert’s brother Keith Carradine emphasized the importance of raising awareness about mental health issues, stating that there is no shame in addressing the challenges faced by those living with mental illnesses. Keith expressed admiration for Robert’s strength in dealing with his illness and described him as a talented individual whose presence will be deeply missed.

Despite being part of a family with a strong acting background, Robert initially aspired to become a race-car driver. However, his path led him to a successful acting career, with notable roles in various film and television projects spanning over four decades. While he may not have achieved the same level of fame as his more renowned siblings, such as Keith and David Carradine, Robert made significant contributions to the entertainment industry.

Some of Robert’s memorable works include appearances in projects like Martin Scorsese’s “Mean Streets,” Hal Ashby’s “Coming Home,” and Samuel Fuller’s “The Big Red One.” He gained widespread recognition for his role as Lewis Skolnick in the 1984 comedy “Revenge of the Nerds,” a character he reprised in sequels and television adaptations.

In addition to his acting career, Robert found success on the small screen, notably in Disney Channel’s “Lizzie McGuire” series, where he portrayed the father of the titular character. Colleagues and co-stars fondly remembered him for his warmth and professionalism.

Robert’s legacy extends beyond his professional accomplishments, as he leaves behind a loving family, including his three children. His daughter, Ever Carradine, expressed her deep bond with her father and credited him for providing unwavering love and support throughout her life.

Despite facing personal challenges, including a well-documented car accident in 2015 and subsequent divorce, Robert Carradine’s impact on the entertainment industry and his loved ones remains profound. His passing serves as a reminder of the importance of mental health awareness and support for those struggling with similar issues.
