Israel announced its readiness to reopen Gaza’s Rafah crossing with Egypt for the movement of Palestinians, but no specific timeline has been set. Tensions persist between Israel and Hamas over the return of hostages’ bodies, potentially jeopardizing the ceasefire. Israeli spokesperson Shosh Bedrosian emphasized the country’s commitment to the agreement, urging Hamas to hand over the remaining 19 bodies.

Hamas has returned 10 bodies, citing difficulty in recovering more due to the need for heavy machinery in Gaza. Accusations surfaced from a senior Hamas official, claiming Israel violated the ceasefire by fatally shooting 24 individuals. Israel attributed these incidents to Palestinians disregarding warnings near ceasefire positions.

Recent clashes resulted in casualties, with an Israeli airstrike in Khan Younis claiming two lives. Israel defended its actions, stating that individuals approaching troops posed an immediate threat. The next phase of the peace plan involves Hamas disarming and relinquishing power, a step the group has resisted.

President Donald Trump warned Hamas against further violence in Gaza. The release of living hostages was exchanged for Palestinian prisoners in Israel. Efforts to establish a stabilization force and create a Palestinian state face challenges, with long-term aspects of the plan yet to be finalized.

Discussions on Gaza’s reconstruction and aid distribution are ongoing. COGAT, Israel’s military aid agency, is collaborating with Egypt to reopen the Rafah crossing for civilian movement. Humanitarian aid, crucial for addressing the famine in Gaza, will be routed through Kerem Shalom for security screening.

Despite some aid reaching Gaza, the scale falls short of addressing the crisis, with thousands of vehicles needed weekly. UNICEF has delivered essential supplies, but Hamas officials stress the urgent need for sustained aid and resources. The conflict has left a significant toll on Gaza, with widespread destruction and casualties reported.
