Welcome to an Academy Awards ceremony marked by unprecedented unpredictability. While some categories have clear favorites like “Sinners” and “One Battle After Another,” there are surprises in store due to the topsy-turvy awards season.

In the realm of technical achievements, “Avatar: Fire and Ash” is expected to clinch best visual effects, while “Frankenstein” is poised for success in technical categories. Notably, a deviation from the expected “KPop Demon Hunters” in best song and best animated feature would shake things up.

The anticipation for a nail-biting event is high, with fierce competitions in the major categories. Let’s dive into the showdowns within the key awards.

In the Best Picture category, “One Battle After Another” and “Sinners” stand out as prominent contenders. While “Sinners” leads in nominations, “One Battle” has been a favorite in various guild awards, setting the stage for a close contest.

For Best Director, Paul Thomas Anderson of “One Battle After Another” is a strong contender, with Ryan Coogler of “Sinners” presenting a formidable challenge. A surprise win for Josh Safdie’s “Marty Supreme” remains unlikely but not impossible.

In the Best Actor race, Michael B. Jordan from “Sinners” is a front-runner, closely followed by Timothée Chalamet of “Marty Supreme.” Ethan Hawke’s performance in “Blue Moon” is also deserving of recognition.

Jessie Buckley’s performance in “Hamnet” is expected to secure the Best Actress award, with Rose Byrne in “If I Had Legs I’d Kick You” as a potential dark horse. Eva Victor’s role in “Sorry, Baby” is highlighted as a notable snub.

As for the supporting categories, Amy Madigan in “Weapons” leads the pack for Best Supporting Actress, with competition from Teyana Taylor in “One Battle After Another” and Wunmi Mosaku in “Sinners.” In the Best Supporting Actor category, Sean Penn of “One Battle After Another” is favored, while Stellan Skarsgård in “Sentimental Value” and Delroy Lindo in “Sinners” present strong challenges.

The Academy Awards promise an evening of surprises and intense battles across various categories, making it a must-watch event for film enthusiasts.
