Hyundai has issued a cautionary notice regarding the seatbelt system in certain 2026 Palisade models. The concern lies with the wiring in the seatbelt of the third-row, left-hand side seat which may incur damage when pulled, as detailed in a notification on Transport Canada’s Motor Vehicle Safety Recalls Database. This wiring issue can lead to a misleading seatbelt indicator, falsely showing that the seatbelt is fastened when it is not, potentially causing confusion and increasing the risk of injury in the event of a crash.
Approximately 4,203 vehicles in Canada could be impacted by this seatbelt problem. Hyundai has pledged to inform affected drivers through written communication, urging them to visit a dealership to rectify the seatbelt wiring issue. Alternatively, drivers can check if their vehicle is affected by entering their identification number on Hyundai’s online recall lookup website or by contacting 1-888-216-2626.
Earlier this year, Hyundai recalled numerous vehicles in the U.S. and Canada and halted sales of select new Palisades due to a separate issue involving certain second and third-row power seats failing to cease movement upon detecting contact with a passenger or object. This recall was prompted by a tragic incident in Ohio where a two-year-old child lost their life.
