After a 32-year wait, the exhilarating moment finally arrived on Monday night, igniting an instant celebration. Following the Toronto Blue Jays’ victory over the Seattle Mariners, ecstatic baseball fans poured out of Rogers Centre onto Front Street in downtown Toronto. They danced, chanted, and exchanged high fives, marking the team’s advancement to the World Series for the first time since 1993.

Leo Bursui, who witnessed the game at a local bar, proudly exclaimed, “We’re back, baby!” Sporting his parents’ vintage sweatshirt from the Blue Jays’ 1992 World Series win, Bursui expressed his desire to create unforgettable Blue Jays memories of his own.

Expressing his emotional connection to the game, Bursui mentioned tearing up when George Springer’s three-run homer secured the lead for the Jays. This victory marked the team’s first-ever win in an ALCS Game 7, propelling them to face the Los Angeles Dodgers in the upcoming World Series.

Despite the anticipation for the World Series, Jays fans basked in the glory of the Game 7 triumph. Sonya Fervaha, from Vaughan, Ont., described her elation, stating, “I am on cloud nine right now. I am the happiest girl in the world,” emphasizing the team’s deserving victory after a season of hard work.

Starting the season with doubts about playoff qualification, the Blue Jays overcame initial setbacks to clinch their division title. Their playoff journey included defeating the New York Yankees before engaging in a thrilling series against Seattle, ultimately securing the American League championship.

Reflecting on the team’s achievement, Raja Oosiar of Scarborough shared his nostalgia for the last championship in 1993, emphasizing the significance of witnessing the current success as an adult. Even former Blue Jays hero Joe Carter admitted feeling nerves and excitement during Monday night’s game.

As fans flooded the streets post-game, the celebratory atmosphere continued outside Rogers Centre. The joyous scenes included chanting, dancing, and exuberant interactions among fans. The city’s streets came to a standstill as vehicles on Front Street paused to witness the jubilant crowd celebrating the Jays’ triumph, exemplifying the city’s unity and spirit in supporting their team.
