Céline Dion released a new single on Friday, signaling her return to the music scene. The romantic French ballad, titled “Dansons,” which translates to “Let’s dance” in English, is accompanied by a music video showcasing romantic scenes in Paris with couples dancing freely in public settings.

The release of the single precedes Dion’s upcoming series of 16 shows at the Paris La Défense Arena from September 12 to October 17. Speculations about her comeback were confirmed after mysterious signs featuring lyrics from her songs began appearing around Paris, including lines from hits like “My Heart Will Go On” and “The Power of Love.”

This new single, “Dansons,” is written by the renowned songwriter Jean-Jacques Goldman and marks Dion’s first French release in over a decade and her first original song in years. Her most recent music contribution was in 2023 for the film “Love Again.”

Dion’s collaboration with Goldman dates back to their work on her previous projects, such as “Encore un soir” in 2016 and the 1995 album “D’eux,” which remains the best-selling French-language album of all time.

The iconic singer had to cancel her Courage world tour in 2023 due to her battle with stiff person syndrome, a rare neurological disorder that affects only a small number of individuals worldwide. The tour had initially been postponed in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Dion made her first public singing appearances again in July 2024 during the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris and later that year at a fashion show in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, honoring designer Elie Saab’s illustrious career.
