Sofia Hagman’s crucial penalty in the sixth round of kicks sealed the victory for Vancouver, as Ottawa’s Julia Benati missed her penalty, saved by Rise goalkeeper Morgan McAslan.
McAslan displayed her skills by saving two penalties during the shootout, including a crucial stop against Susanne Haaland. Latifah Abdu’s successful penalty kept Vancouver in contention before Hagman’s decisive strike.
Ottawa initially held a 2-0 lead in the game and a 3-2 aggregate advantage with goals from Delaney Baie Pridham and Melanie Forbes. However, Holly Ward’s late goal in the 85th minute leveled the score for Vancouver, leading to extra time.

The Rise will now advance to the NSL Final on November 15, facing the winner of the AFC Toronto vs. Montreal Roses semifinal. Toronto holds a 2-0 aggregate lead going into the second leg. Following the match, Rapid’s captain, Desiree Scott, announced her retirement, with an attendance of 3,068 spectators.
