Canada’s Victoria Mboko was defeated 6-4, 7-5 by Czechia’s Karolina Muchova in the women’s final at the Qatar Open on Saturday. The 19-year-old player from Toronto managed four aces and one double fault during the match, successfully converting her sole break-point opportunity.

Following this match, Mboko’s season record in singles play stands at 13-4, and she is set to achieve a career-high world ranking of No. 10. This final marked her second appearance this season, with her previous final resulting in a loss to Russian player Mirra Andreeva at the Adelaide International in January. Additionally, Mboko’s win at last year’s National Bank Open in Montreal brought her to her second 1000-level final of her career.

On the other hand, Muchova delivered two aces and committed two double faults. She capitalized on two out of six break-point opportunities and notably outperformed Mboko in first-serve points won, boasting a 77.8% success rate compared to Mboko’s 60.5%.

This match showcased a competitive clash between the two players, highlighting their skills and determination on the court.
