Thanksgiving Day falls on Monday, October 13 this year, affecting business hours and closures. Here’s a breakdown of what you can expect in terms of openings and closures, along with activities to enjoy with your loved ones.

**Shopping:**
Masonville and White Oaks malls will remain closed on Monday. Most major grocery stores will also be closed, so plan ahead. Additionally, all major banks will be closed on the holiday.

**Alcohol:**
LCBO and most Beer Store outlets will be closed on Thanksgiving. However, some Wine Rack locations will be open for business.

**Transit:**
The London Transit Commission will operate on a holiday schedule. You can find holiday schedules on the Routes & Schedules page. While the downtown ticket office will be closed, the Highbury Avenue location will be open. Stay updated on your route in real-time here.

**City and government services:**
Garbage collection will not take place on Monday, with regular shifts delayed by a day. For reference, you can consult the collection schedule. All government offices, including Service Ontario and City Hall services, will be closed.

**Things to Do:**
Experience the vibrant fall colors from London City Hall’s observation deck this Saturday. Reserve your spot for a view overlooking Victoria Park here. From next week onwards, the observation deck will be open Thursday to Sunday until October 26.
Explore the city’s trails with guided hikes at Meadowlilly, Kains Woods, or Kilally Meadows, suitable for families with children or youth explorers. Columbia Sportswear is the organizing sponsor, and you can book your hike here.
Enjoy Halloween at Storybook Gardens with the return of the ticketed evening event, Pumpkins After Dark, suitable for families, adults, and dog-friendly nights. The event features a maze and more activities for all to enjoy.
