Dan Levy found it challenging to express his emotions when he visited the Ontario town where the popular TV series “Schitt’s Creek” was filmed for the first time post the show’s conclusion. Standing in front of the former Rose Apothecary, the shop his character David operated in Season 3, Levy struggled to hold back tears, removing his trademark black glasses to wipe them away.

During an extended interview with CBS’s “Sunday Morning,” which aired recently, Levy returned to Goodwood, Ontario, located northeast of Toronto. He discussed various topics such as his upcoming Netflix series “Big Mistakes,” his creative process, and his time in Toronto. However, he also touched upon the passing of his co-star and friend, Catherine O’Hara, who passed away in January at the age of 71 due to a blood clot in her lung, a condition she had not publicly revealed.

O’Hara’s sudden death shocked both Hollywood and her numerous fans who adored her performances in iconic films such as “Home Alone,” “Beetlejuice,” “Best in Show,” and notably in “Schitt’s Creek” where she portrayed the dramatic former soap star and family matriarch Moira Rose.

Reflecting on his return to the “Schitt’s Creek” community, Levy admitted to experiencing unexpected emotional reactions and mentioned that he had contemplated a reboot before O’Hara’s demise. However, he now cherishes the memories of the show and the unforgettable scenes that O’Hara brought to life as Moira.

Levy shared insights on working with O’Hara on the series, reminiscing about their memorable moments on set, including comedic exchanges and scenes that left him in stitches. Despite the immense success of “Schitt’s Creek,” which received numerous accolades during its broadcast, Levy remains optimistic about his new Netflix sitcom “Big Mistakes,” scheduled to premiere on April 9, emphasizing the importance of creating content that brings personal satisfaction.

In conclusion, Levy expressed gratitude for the legacy of “Schitt’s Creek” while acknowledging the challenge of living up to its success. He emphasized the need to focus on creating content that resonates with him personally, rather than worrying about comparisons to his previous work.
