The former Migos member, rapper Offset, was shot outside a Florida casino but is currently in stable condition, according to a spokesperson on Tuesday. Offset, previously married to Cardi B, was receiving medical treatment at a hospital following the shooting on Monday night. Although his specific condition was undisclosed, authorities confirmed that his injuries were not life-threatening. Notably, Offset’s cousin and fellow Migos member, Takeoff, tragically lost his life in a shooting incident at a Houston bowling alley over three years ago.
The recent shooting incident occurred after an altercation outside the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, near Miami. Law enforcement reported one person sustaining injuries, without revealing the victim’s identity. Two individuals, including rapper Lil Tjay (Tione Jayden Merritt), were detained, with Lil Tjay facing charges of disorderly conduct and driving without a valid license. Lil Tjay’s attorney clarified that he was not in possession of a firearm and was not charged with any gun-related offenses. The lawyer facilitated his release on bond, expected on Tuesday afternoon.
The second person apprehended at the scene remains uncharged, as investigators continue to determine the involvement of others. Offset, whose real name is Kiari Kendrell Cephus, gained fame as part of Migos, a prominent Atlanta hip-hop trio known for their distinctive triplet flow that revolutionized trap music. Their breakthrough came with the 2013 hit “Versace,” followed by chart-topping tracks like “Bad and Boujee,” “Stir Fry,” “Narcos,” and “T-Shirt.” Migos released four successful albums before the tragic loss of Takeoff.
Offset and Cardi B secretly tied the knot in Atlanta in September 2017, although Cardi B filed for divorce in 2024. The couple shares three children. Quavo, the third member of Migos, responded to Takeoff’s shooting by organizing an anti-gun violence summit in 2024. Takeoff was an innocent bystander in the fatal shooting stemming from a dispute over a dice game. His untimely death added to a series of violent incidents involving hip-hop stars like Nipsey Hussle, Pop Smoke, PnB Rock, and Young Dolph.
Offset ventured into a solo career prior to Takeoff’s passing, showcasing a unique style characterized by melodic aggression. He released three solo albums: “Father of Four” in 2019, “Set It Off” in 2023—a project aimed at revitalizing rap amid a trend of singing rappers according to Offset—and “Kiari” in 2025. Offset described “Set It Off” as liberating, proving his prowess outside Migos, while “Kiari” represents his unapologetic self-expression, a departure from conforming to external expectations.
