A respected London doctor tragically lost his life in a fatal collision on Tuesday in the city’s northwest area. Dr. Agron Alija, 62, passed away in the hospital after a head-on crash on Fanshawe Park Road that resulted in serious injuries to another driver. The incident is still under investigation by authorities.
Dr. Alija, known for his dedication and care for his patients and colleagues, worked as a family doctor at a clinic on Wonderland Road North. His colleagues at Active Care Medical Centre, where his clinic was located, expressed their sorrow over his passing and highlighted his kindness, dedication, and compassion that touched many lives.
London police are seeking assistance from individuals who may have dashcam or surveillance footage from the area at the time of the accident. Colleagues remembered Dr. Alija as a compassionate and committed professional who went above and beyond for his patients, even offering his services in rural areas and remote communities.
Originally from Kosovo, Dr. Alija had a diverse background, including work as a translator with the Kosovo Diplomatic Observer Mission during the conflict in Kosovo. He later immigrated to Canada, where he continued his medical career and became a well-respected figure in the Albanian community.
Dr. Alija’s legacy as a dedicated family physician and emergency doctor will be remembered by many. A funeral service is scheduled to take place at Forest Lawn Funeral Home and Cemetery, with visitation hours and burial planned for Monday. His passing has left a void in the medical community and among those who knew him.
