The Montreal Carabins secured a decisive 49-19 victory over the Saint Mary’s Huskies in the Uteck Bowl, with Mathieu Barsalou excelling by scoring four touchdowns. This win earned Montreal a spot in the Vanier Cup, the national championship game of U Sports football, where they will face the Saskatchewan Huskies. Saskatchewan advanced to the final by defeating the Queen’s University Gaels 22-11 in the Mitchell Bowl shortly after Montreal’s triumph.

Pepe Gonzalez, the Carabins quarterback, showcased his skills by completing 18 of 26 passes for 168 yards, including one touchdown pass and one interception. Gonzalez connected with Enrique Jaimes Leclair for a touchdown reception, while Gregory Mulenda-St-Pierre added another rushing touchdown for the RSEQ champions.

Montreal dominated the game by building a commanding 22-2 lead by halftime, maintaining their momentum throughout the second half. The Carabins’ lowest-scoring quarter was the first, where they scored eight points, but they consistently scored at least 13 points in the remaining quarters.
