British authorities announced on Tuesday that Russell Brand, a well-known comedian and actor, is facing fresh accusations of rape and sexual assault. These new charges, approved by the Crown Prosecution Service, involve two women and come after initial allegations in April, which included two counts of rape, one of indecent assault, and two of sexual assault dating back over two decades.

Brand, aged 50, is set to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on January 20, 2026, regarding the recent charges. Additionally, a trial for the previous charges is scheduled to commence at Southwark Crown Court on June 16, 2026. Despite attempts to contact Brand for a response, no comments have been received.

In May, Brand pleaded not guilty to the original five charges. Once a prominent figure in British broadcasting and the former spouse of American singer Katy Perry, Brand has consistently denied engaging in any non-consensual sexual activities.

Following the initial accusations in April, Brand expressed on social media that although he had made mistakes in his youth, he vehemently denied any claims of being involved in non-consensual acts. In recent years, the actor has shifted his focus to social commentary, hosting a program on the contentious video-sharing platform, Rumble, which prides itself on being resistant to cancel culture.

The investigation into Brand’s conduct began in September 2023 following reports from Channel 4 TV’s Dispatches show and the Sunday Times newspaper.
