A fatal incident occurred in Mississauga on Thursday, resulting in the death of a teenager who was struck by a vehicle and subsequently hit by another car, confirmed by Peel Regional Police on Friday. Another victim, a man in his 60s, is in critical condition following the accident. The relationship between the two pedestrians remains undisclosed for privacy reasons.
The tragic collision took place on Millcreek Drive near Erin Mills Parkway, in an industrial area, as reported by Const. Tyler Bell-Morena, a spokesperson for Peel Regional Police. The emergency response was initiated around 5:25 p.m. when the pedestrians were crossing the street and were first hit by a southbound white Chevy SUV, propelling them into the path of a northbound Volkswagen. The teenager was discovered trapped under the Volkswagen and had to be rescued by firefighters.
Authorities have not pressed any charges in connection with the incident yet. Both drivers involved in the collision stayed on-site and are cooperating with the police investigation. Witnesses reported that several individuals called 911 and provided immediate assistance, with workers from a nearby industrial site being among the bystanders.
The crash scene was cordoned off by officers for investigation purposes on Thursday evening. Personal items of the pedestrians, such as their shoes, were scattered on the road. Police are urging any witnesses or individuals with dashboard camera footage of the incident to come forward and assist in the ongoing inquiry.
