Early Sunday morning, a collision between a car and a TTC streetcar led to the streetcar derailing at a bustling downtown Toronto intersection, according to police sources.

Police were alerted to the incident at approximately 5:39 a.m. near the junction of Richmond Street W. and Bay Street, as stated on police social media platforms.

According to Toronto Fire officials speaking to CBC News, the streetcar had completely come off its tracks, but the situation was resolved once TTC personnel and police officers arrived at the scene.

By 9:11 a.m., the affected area’s roads had been reopened, and the vehicles involved in the collision had been relocated from the intersection, as confirmed by Toronto police.

Authorities reported no injuries and are currently conducting an inquiry into the circumstances that led to the crash.

Following the incident, the westbound 501 Queen streetcar and the 19 Bay bus in both directions resumed their regular services after being rerouted due to the accident, as confirmed by TTC officials.
