In the morning session at the Cortina Curling Olympic Stadium, challenging conditions with papered rocks and faster ice tested the teams. However, Canada faced no excuses during the evening draw.

Estonia’s Marie Kaldvee and Harri Lill took an early lead, securing an 8-6 victory over Canada’s Brett Gallant and Jocelyn Peterman. This defeat marked Canada’s third consecutive loss in the round-robin stage, placing them in a must-win situation.

Gallant acknowledged the challenge, stating, “You can’t dig yourself a six-rip hole at the Olympics and expect an easy comeback.” With a 3-3 record, Canada now shares the fifth spot with three games left. The top four teams out of the ten will advance to the semifinals.

In earlier matches, Gallant and Peterman suffered a 7-5 loss to Great Britain’s Jennifer Dodds and Bruce Mouat. Despite their efforts to bounce back, Canada struggled in subsequent games.

Facing Estonia, Peterman’s early mistake led to a three-point advantage for their opponents. Despite some good plays, Canada faced difficulties, with Estonia ultimately sealing the win.

While attempting a comeback during the fourth end using their power play, Canada narrowly missed a scoring opportunity. Despite some moments of brilliance, Estonia’s strong performance proved decisive.

Looking ahead, Canada is set to play against Sweden next, followed by matches against South Korea and Switzerland. As the competition intensifies, Canada aims to secure a spot in the playoffs.

With semifinals scheduled for Monday and medal matches on Tuesday, Canada remains focused on their performance to improve on their past Olympic mixed doubles record.
