The head of a military college in Ontario, Canada, has been ousted from his position. Col. Fraser Auld served as the commandant of the Canadian Army Command and Staff College located in Kingston. The Department of National Defence spokesperson revealed that the Canadian Army commander made the decision to remove Auld on February 23 due to a lack of confidence in his leadership abilities. Lt.-Col. Don Dubois has been appointed as the interim commandant of the college. The spokesperson stated that no additional details will be provided as this is considered a personnel issue.
The primary objective of the college is to train army officers in commanding and staff duties during wartime, as indicated on the Canadian government’s official website. A post on the college’s Facebook page noted that Auld officially assumed his role as the head of the institution on June 27, 2024. Auld’s military career began in 1990 when he enlisted as a private with the Lorne Scots in Brampton, Ontario. He later became an officer after joining the Royal Military College of Canada and obtaining a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering in 1996. Following a brief period in the private sector, Auld rejoined the Canadian Army in 1998 as an armour officer. Throughout his tenure, he has held various regimental positions and completed multiple operational missions, including deployments to Bosnia-Herzegovina, Afghanistan, and Ukraine.
