The Cleveland Guardians acquired left-handed pitcher Justin Bruihl from the Toronto Blue Jays in a trade involving cash considerations, as announced by the Blue Jays on Wednesday. Bruihl was placed on assignment by Toronto earlier in the week following the team’s agreement on a three-year, $37 million contract with reliever Tyler Rogers.

During the previous season, Bruihl appeared in 15 games for the Blue Jays but did not register a win or loss, maintaining a 5.27 earned-run average. He participated in one postseason game, pitching one-third of an inning in a 13-7 victory over the New York Yankees in the American League Division Series.

Making his MLB debut in 2021 with the Los Angeles Dodgers, the 28-year-old lefty has also played for the Colorado Rockies and Pittsburgh Pirates.
