Drake has solidified his position as a prominent figure in pop music. The Toronto-based rapper has broken Michael Jackson’s long-standing record for the most No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 by a solo male artist. His latest track, “Janice STFU,” debuted at the top of the chart this week following the release of his trilogy of albums.
According to Billboard, Drake now has a career total of 14 chart-topping singles, putting him on par with Taylor Swift and Rihanna for the most No. 1 hits across all artists. Only Mariah Carey, with 19, and The Beatles, with 20, have achieved more No. 1 singles.
In a single week, Drake set a new record by placing 42 songs on the Hot 100 chart, surpassing Morgan Wallen’s 2025 record of 37 entries. The artist has frequently referenced Michael Jackson in his music, drawing parallels between his own legacy and the pop icon’s. The cover of his latest album, “Iceman,” features a rhinestone-studded glove reminiscent of Jackson’s iconic accessory.
This week, Drake also made history by securing the top three positions on Billboard’s top 200 album chart with his trilogy of albums: “Iceman,” “Habibti,” and “Maid of Honour” debuting at Nos. 1, 2, and 3, respectively, on the May 30 chart.
Drake’s latest solo projects mark his return following a well-publicized feud with Kendrick Lamar in 2024, with subtle references to the rivalry embedded in several tracks. The release of “Iceman” was preceded by a year-long buildup, during which Drake teased the project through various public stunts, culminating in a spectacular display at the CN Tower in Toronto before surprise-releasing the other two albums.
