After more than 80 years under the ownership of the Clow family, Clow’s Red and White, a beloved general store in Prince Edward Island, is transitioning to new ownership. Known for its diverse offerings, the store has been a staple for Islanders, particularly for its renowned meat pies that have become a holiday tradition.
Established in the 1940s by Judd Clow, the store has been a multi-generational family operation, with Norman Clow overseeing operations since 2015. The store’s history is prominently showcased through old photographs and paintings adorning the walls, illustrating its evolution over the years.
Reflecting on his lifelong connection to the store, Norman Clow expressed gratitude for the community support and emphasized the importance of maintaining continuity under the new owners. The new proprietors, Dwijesh Patel and Krunal Patel, are committed to upholding the store’s legacy and preserving its signature products, including meat pies, potted meat, and beef jerky.
Despite the change in ownership, customers can expect minimal disruptions, with the store’s staff remaining intact and its traditional offerings unchanged. Norman Clow will assist the new owners during the transition period, ensuring a seamless handover before taking a well-deserved break.
As preparations for the upcoming holiday season commence, Clow reassured customers that the tradition of ordering meat pies for Christmas will continue as usual. Expressing mixed emotions about stepping away from the business, Clow extended heartfelt thanks to the community for their longstanding support and friendship, hoping that this transition is not a final farewell.
