Hamilton, Burlington, Brantford, Niagara Region, and nearby areas experienced their initial snowfall of the season on Sunday. A special weather statement from Environment Canada early on Sunday indicated a potential snow accumulation of two to 10 centimeters in the region. The snowfall is expected to persist until tonight.
According to Trudy Kidd, a meteorologist at Environment Canada, this snowfall represents the first onset of winter weather for a significant portion of southern Ontario. Environment Canada highlighted the possibility of a low-pressure system causing substantial snowfall in parts of southern Ontario on Sunday.
The agency mentioned that due to the relatively warm conditions, roads and highways may accumulate less snow. Motorists are advised to anticipate challenging winter driving conditions and make appropriate adjustments to their travel schedules. Environment Canada also warned of potential transportation delays due to adverse weather conditions and strongly recommended the prompt installation of winter tires for individuals in the affected area.
