Prince Edward Island RCMP are currently looking into three suspicious fires that have occurred in the Miscouche area of Prince County within the last four days. According to Cpl. Gavin Moore, the RCMP’s media relations officer, the most recent fire took place on Tuesday around 10:20 p.m. at a cabin in a wooded area just west of Summerside, where both the Miscouche Fire Department and RCMP responded to the scene.
This incident followed two other fires that happened on Sunday. The first fire was reported at approximately 2:37 a.m. involving some tires along Route 122. Shortly after, another fire broke out at an abandoned house along Route 2, which was already ablaze by the time firefighters arrived.
Fortunately, there were no injuries in any of the incidents, but the structures involved were completely destroyed. Moore emphasized that while there was no immediate danger to individuals, such incidents strain fire and emergency services resources that may be needed elsewhere. He advised Islanders to remain vigilant, especially regarding abandoned properties that are susceptible to fires, and to report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
