U.S. President Donald Trump has officially called off the Freedom 250 music concerts scheduled for the National Mall in Washington, D.C. following the withdrawal of most of the original artists. Instead, Trump announced that for the June 24 event commemorating the U.S.’s 250th birthday, he will host what he dubbed as “the Greatest Rally, EVER!” on his Truth Social account. This decision comes nearly a week after he initially hinted at scrapping the Freedom 250 event.

While the new event will not feature the initially planned musical performances, Trump revealed that Lee Greenwood, a staunch supporter of the Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement, will introduce him with his iconic song “GOD BLESS THE U.S.A.” Additionally, Christopher Macchio from the New York Tenors will showcase his vocal talents by performing various classic pieces.

Trump criticized the artists who opted out of the concert series due to concerns about its partisan nature, including Bret Michaels, Martina McBride, and others. Vanilla Ice and Flo Rida are the only remaining acts from the original lineup set to perform at the concerts organized by the Trump administration.

Although the series was canceled, Vanilla Ice expressed his desire to participate in the revised event, emphasizing his willingness to perform for any audience, including Russian President Vladimir Putin. The new event will feature military bands like the U.S. Army Band ‘Perishing’s Own’ and the Armed Forces Choir, promising a patriotic musical experience for attendees.

The Freedom 250 anniversary event aims to celebrate the American spirit, according to its website. Criticism has been directed at other events marking the U.S.’s birthday for allegedly glorifying Trump, with initiatives such as featuring his image on coins and bills and his signature on official documents.
