Blue Jays skipper John Schneider shook up the lineup for Game 2 of the World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Infielder Bo Bichette, who returned after a seven-week absence in Game 1, was on the bench. Isiah Kiner-Falefa started at second base while Nathan Lukes and Addison Barger replaced Davis Schneider and Myles Straw in the outfield.
Although primarily a shortstop, Bichette played second base for the first time after being added to the 26-man roster for Game 1 due to a left knee sprain. Schneider mentioned that they were cautious with Bichette after his layoff and were monitoring his physical condition closely.
Kevin Gausman and Yoshinobu Yamamoto were the starting pitchers for Game 2. Schneider confirmed Max Scherzer for Game 3 and Shane Bieber for Game 4. If needed, Game 5 would be in Los Angeles, while Games 6 and 7 would be in Toronto.
In Game 1, Bichette got a single in the first inning and a double play in the third. He started the Blue Jays’ nine-run sixth inning with a walk before being substituted by Kiner-Falefa. Bichette had an impressive .311 batting average this season and led Toronto with 181 hits.
