He has opted to exercise his player option for the 2026 season, securing a $16 million US salary. The 30-year-old pitcher joined the Blue Jays from the Cleveland Guardians last summer and performed well, earning a 4-2 record with a 3.57 earned-run average.
Bieber’s choice to stay adds stability to the Blue Jays’ starting rotation, which is expected to feature top pitcher Kevin Gausman, Trey Yesavage, Jose Berrios, and potentially Eric Lauer. The team’s future is uncertain regarding free agents Max Scherzer and Chris Bassitt.
During the postseason, Bieber showcased his skills with a 2-1 record and a 3.86 ERA. Notably, he secured a crucial victory against the Los Angeles Dodgers in the World Series.
