The RCMP’s major crimes unit has indicated that foul play is suspected following the discovery of a deceased individual in the vicinity of Lake Country, B.C., situated just north of Kelowna, on Christmas Day.

Authorities from the Lake Country RCMP were dispatched to the 16000 block of Gatzke Road shortly after 9:30 p.m. PT on December 25th.

Upon their arrival, officers located the body of Joseph Robert McCook, aged 43, as stated in an official RCMP press release.

Law enforcement has mentioned that they suspect foul play and that the investigation has been assumed by the RCMP’s major crimes unit.

The RCMP declined to specify the exact location where McCook’s body was discovered and have not disclosed the date of his death.

The 16000 block of Gatzke Road runs parallel to Highway 97, linking Kelowna and Vernon. This section of the road is bordered by at least six residences, a gravel pit, and a building material company.

Authorities have released a photograph of McCook in the hopes of aiding their inquiries and are seeking public cooperation to establish the events surrounding the incident.

Individuals with information who have not yet been in contact with the police are urged to reach out to the major crimes unit information line at 1-877-987-8477.
