Yellowknife RCMP confirmed that a car driven by a 60-year-old woman crashed into the front entrance of the Explorer Hotel on Christmas Eve. Despite hitting four people, no serious injuries were reported. The driver, Natallia Salodkina, showed signs of impairment and was arrested after failing a breath test. Emergency crews rescued individuals trapped in the elevator. The hotel’s COO stated that neither staff nor guests suffered major injuries. The crash caused significant damage to the hotel’s entrance, and the driver is facing multiple charges, including dangerous operation of a vehicle and assault with a weapon. The incident occurred in the late afternoon, and the vehicle, a compact SUV, was removed from the lobby by 5 p.m. RCMP continue to investigate the matter.
