Canada Reads 2026 is scheduled for April 13 to 16, featuring animated trailers for the five competing books. This year’s theme is centered around finding a book that fosters connection and unity.

The contenders for 2026 are as follows: Filmmaker and actor Elle-Máijá Tailfeathers supporting “A Minor Chorus” by Billy-Ray Belcourt; Hockey YouTube personality Steve (Dangle) Glynn endorsing “Searching for Terry Punchout” by Tyler Hellard; Musician and writer Tegan Quin championing “The Cure for Drowning” by Loghan Paylor; Broadway actor Josh Dela Cruz advocating for “Foe” by Iain Reid; and BookTok star Morgann Book backing “It’s Different This Time” by Joss Richard.

Each book showcases the power of storytelling to inspire and connect people from diverse backgrounds. The event aims to celebrate the art of storytelling and its ability to bring communities together.

If you wish to access the Canada Reads books in different formats, CELA and NNELS offer them in audio, braille, print braille, and text formats. You can check the availability of formats for each book on the CELA and NNELS websites.

The Canada Reads books are available in print, e-book, and audiobook formats at your local bookstore or library. To find an independent bookstore near you, you can use the provided link.

During Canada Reads, five Canadian celebrities select a book that they believe all Canadians should read. Over four days, they engage in debates and vote to eliminate one book per day until a winner emerges. It’s an exciting opportunity to discover new authors and stories that resonate with different audiences.

Don’t miss out on watching the book trailers to get acquainted with the talented creators behind them. Each trailer offers a glimpse into the essence of the book and the passion of those supporting it.
