During a video call promoting upcoming exhibition matches, Alcaraz assured reporters that he is not concerned about long-term effects of the injury and will undergo daily treatment and exercises to expedite his recovery process. The 22-year-old player, who had already clinched the year-end No. 1 ranking, fell to Sinner in the ATP Finals but remains focused on his goal of winning the Davis Cup in the future. Alcaraz had previously missed the 2023 Davis Cup due to fitness issues and aims to bounce back stronger from this setback.
Originally scheduled to lead Spain against the Czech Republic in the quarterfinals, Alcaraz’s absence leaves a void in the team lineup. The Czech team, featuring top-20 players Jiri Lehecka and Jakub Mensik, poses a formidable challenge after eliminating the United States in the qualifying round.
