Northern Ontario’s vast boreal forests and extensive peatlands in the northern regions support a diverse array of flora and fauna. Peter Ryser, a plant ecologist from Laurentian University, specializes in studying wetland plants and their ability to adapt to different environmental circumstances. He holds a particular fascination for the often overlooked carnivorous plants found in northern Ontario, which have evolved to thrive in low-nutrient environments. Radio-Canada’s Yvon Theriault recently engaged with Ryser to delve deeper into the intriguing world of these unique plants.
