Highway 6 close to the Hamilton airport has been fully reopened following a single-vehicle collision that occurred on Monday morning, causing a temporary road closure. The incident involved a tractor-trailer veering off the road, striking the guardrail, and spilling 150 liters of diesel fuel, as reported by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).
The collision occurred shortly before 10 a.m. on Monday, leading to the closure of the southbound lanes, which remained shut until the evening. However, by 9 p.m., the lanes were accessible again, as confirmed by the OPP through a Facebook post. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries resulting from the accident.
The investigation into the cause of the collision is ongoing. The site of the incident was at the junction of Highway 6 and Book Road, located just south of Highway 403. This caused the temporary closure of a major southbound route from Hamilton and a significant thoroughfare connecting Hamilton to Brantford.
