The London Sports Hall of Fame is set to introduce a new group of six outstanding individuals on Thursday, Nov. 6, at the Hellenic Community Centre. Organizers highlight that this group collectively boasts over 20 gold medals or world titles at the international level, a significant achievement for the community. Jay Minielly, the chair of the Hall of Fame committee, expressed his confidence in the continued success of future inductees.
The 2025 inductees include Jeff Carter, known for his NHL all-star status and Olympic gold medal, Maggie Mac Neil, an Olympic and world champion swimmer, Jennifer Ogg, a world champion boxer, Darda Sales, a multi-sport Paralympic champion, David Willsie, a five-time Paralympian and former captain of Canada’s wheelchair rugby team, and Murray Young, a distinguished rugby organizer from Ontario.
Additionally, the Hall will recognize the recipients of the city’s 2025 Spirit of Sport awards during the ceremony.
David Willsie, a London native and Paralympic athlete, expressed his surprise and gratitude upon receiving the Hall of Fame induction call. Willsie, who overcame a life-altering accident to excel in wheelchair rugby, emphasized the importance of support from his community and teammates throughout his career.
Darda Sales, another Paralympian and multi-sport athlete, described the honor as a “cherry on top” of her successful career. Sales, who transitioned from swimming to competitive wheelchair basketball after an injury, highlighted her dedication and hard work in achieving her sporting milestones.
Boxing champion Jennifer Ogg, a London native, shared her excitement about being recognized by her hometown and expressed gratitude for the support of her coaches and family throughout her career. Ogg, a four-time national female boxing champion and a World Amateur Championships medalist, considers this induction a meaningful acknowledgment of her achievements.
For those interested in attending the induction ceremony, it is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 6, 2025, starting with a meet-and-greet at 5:00 p.m. followed by the formal program at 6:00 p.m. The event will take place at the Hellenic Community Centre on Southdale Road, with tickets available through the London Sports Council website.
