Residents in southern and central Saskatchewan are advised to brace for significant weather changes over the upcoming weekend, as rain, strong winds, and potential snow are in the forecast. The weather warning encompasses various regions, including Regina, Fort Qu’Appelle, Estevan, Weyburn, Yorkton, Moosomin, as well as areas near Melfort and Nipawin. A low-pressure system is anticipated to enter the province on Saturday night, ushering in widespread rain with a projected accumulation of 30 to 60 millimeters by Monday afternoon.

As Sunday progresses, temperatures are set to decrease, prompting a rain-snow mix in certain locations. Consequently, there is a likelihood of snow accumulation overnight on Sunday. Alongside precipitation, the system is expected to bring strong winds, potentially reaching gusts of up to 80 km/h in select areas of the province.

Post-system passage, temperatures are forecasted to plummet into the single digits for the following week. The specific trajectory of the system remains uncertain, leading to potential shifts in the regions experiencing the heaviest rainfall. The timing of the rain transitioning to snow also adds to the unpredictability, influencing the amount and distribution of snowfall. Residents are urged to stay updated on the latest weather forecasts and prepare for evolving conditions. For additional information and updates, visit weather.gc.ca.
