A teacher from Brockville, Ontario, has been arrested for the alleged sexual assault of a male student over ten years ago, with authorities expressing concerns about the possibility of additional victims.
Elizabeth Doncaster, aged 49, is accused of sexual assault, sexual interference, invitation to sexual touching, and sexual exploitation in connection to purported incidents involving a student between 2008 and 2011. The Brockville police informed CBC that Doncaster is employed by the Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB).
According to the UCDSB’s website, Elizabeth Doncaster is identified as a high school teacher at Thousand Islands Secondary School.
The UCDSB declined to give additional information. Chris Boulay, the executive superintendent, stated in an email that this was a “personnel issue and an ongoing police inquiry.”
Boulay affirmed, “However, when the UCDSB becomes aware of such allegations, we promptly take suitable measures and remove the staff member from the school environment and student interactions. Ensuring student safety is our paramount concern.”
In a press release on Monday, Brockville police expressed worries about potential further victims and urged anyone with more details to come forward.
Doncaster was released after a court appearance and is scheduled to return in the upcoming year.
