The spotlight shone on women’s hockey at Milano Santagiulia as Canada and the U.S. clashed in a highly anticipated matchup on Tuesday night. The dominant American team secured a convincing 5-0 victory, leaving the arena eerily silent well before the final whistle, highlighting the growing disparity between the two rivals.

Reflecting on the defeat, head coach Troy Ryan remarked, “We need to analyze why this game unfolded as it did. We understand the challenges and the need to elevate our performance significantly moving forward.”

Canada’s captain, Marie-Philip Poulin, was sidelined due to an injury sustained in a previous game against Czechia. Despite her absence, the Canadian team struggled to change the course of the game, continuing their streak of losses to the Americans.

In recent encounters, the U.S. triumphed over Canada, including an overtime victory at the previous world championships and dominating performances in the Rivalry Series matches held in November and December.
